We are a community of chinese music lovers. We share and discuss chinese music, write reviews, provide lyrics translation and a lot of things.
Our community are made up of different people from different places around the world – contributing in every single way. Here are these wonderful people, in no particular order:
Moderators
Andrew (telly) is an oddity in CMB, because he has a merely perfunctory interest in pop music. He is, however, interested in languages, especially in the field of translation. This is probably why he spends a fair amount of time cleaning up the Romanised Lyrics and Translation forum every week. His other favourite haunts are the General Discussion forum and Computers & Technology forum.
Though he is merely a glorified janitor, he will not hesitate to come down on spammers and trouble makers with the full force of the IP Ban. Andrew detests l33t 5p3ak and bad grammar. He also hates it when people fail to read the rules in the nicely stickied posts before hijacking threads.
If you are not a spammer or rule-breaker, you will find that Andrew is a very approachable, affable and genial person, who would be most pleased to make your acquaintance.
Note: Andrew uses British English and Simplified Chinese in his posts and translations.

Victor Ly (mastavic), one of the first moderators of Chinese Music Forum, rules with an iron fist. Fortunately, his “iron fist” is only used to deal justice to those who do not follow the rules of the forum; to others, he is always ready to lend a hand.
Victor graduated from an American university with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in business. However, his passion for writing and listening to music was ignited long before he attended college. Victor has been the editor-in-chief for a couple different publications, both online and offline, and has been reviewing music of different languages and genres for many years. Additionally, he frequently posts in various online forums and have moderated at several of the ones he has been a member of. Thus, being a moderator and music reviewer for Chinese Music Forum was a natural fit for Victor.

Jedi, a.k.a. yellowyellowyellow, is a little annoying when you first meet him, and you will doubt his stipulated gender, male, for perhaps the rest of his life, or your life, whichever comes last. He is a photowhore and postwhore of the worst species, rendering his attempts to suppress the narcissistic and garrulous side of his personality useless. Other than that, he is proud to be one of the moderators on the forums, though you could debate whether that benefits the forums or not.
His body resides in the USA, but he has left his heart in China after living there for most of his secondary school years. The voguish, innovative, and melodic holds his attention in concern to Chinese music, and most things in general. He writes astonishing blogs, plays philosopher and psychologist in his spare time, and occasionally translates the odd song or two. He is fluent in both Mandarin and English and can (unfortunately) understand Cantonese. He also loves all things old school, whether it be flower power, huge glasses, skinny pants, or old school R&B.
You’ll have to get to know him properly to see his true amazingness as a person. He has been blessed with the gift to make people smile. Being a love-peace-music hippie, he will listen to your various vents and rants, and will encourage you and help you when you need it. Being a hopeless romantic, he will spoil you rotten with poems and love songs, once he gets to love you of course. wink
Oh, and he can talk for China. =]

Sherry, Shez on the forums, is one of CMB’s earliest moderators, and one of the least dedicated. However, call her Rin or Rinny, for she wants you to know, as much as she drinks, her blood is not so permeated with alcohol that it has become an alcoholic beverage. Yet. She rules with the icy frown and cruel scepter of an Arctic queen, unmercifully crushing those who don’t read the conveniently posted rules and consequently breaking them.
As a friend, she is a bubbly, cheerful, lovely, very tiny China doll. Behind her apparent friendliness and charm, she has an affinity for vampires, blood, and all things emo. Of course, her magnetism to the dark side only proves that she is indeed the opposite, an irresistibly kawaii and brilliant angel with a pondering intellect and a compassionate heart. She has the power to work random but enthralling miracles on those who she desires.
That being said, don’t mess with Rin. Born in China, she is defensively proud of her full Chinese heritage, and loves her motherland with all her heart. Japanese and Taiwanese culture interests her immensely as well. Her favourite artists are Jay Chou, JJ Lin, David Tao, and Wang Rong. She enjoys watching Taiwanese dramas, travelling, and spamming people on Facebook.

LTD, real name Ly, is currently our newest moderator. She seems to be the most mature member of CMB, maybe the most mature citizen of the United States, but that has yet to be confirmed by those who will come in contact with her in the future. Always responsible and helpful, she treats lawbreakers with charm and grace, unless it’s their third strike, then that’s a different story.
Surprisingly, Ly is our only moderator who is not of Chinese ethnicity. She grew up on Vietnamese dubbed wuxia dramas, which have surprisingly, led her to a deeper appreciation for Chinese culture, as well as Chinese music. Her tastes in music include anything the normal teenager would not listen to, and her music collection hails back to the good old days of Teresa Teng, Roman Tam, Hacken Lee, and the four heavenly kings. She’s very sensitive to music, especially the instrument of voice, and would be considered one of our best, if not the best, music critics.
Feel free to talk to Ly! As a person, she is wise beyond her years, modest and unassuming. She also possesses a sly sense of humor and a gentle directness which you will need to get to know her better to appreciate. All in all, she would revel in a private message from you, and would take pleasure in getting to know you.
Active Members
Delrondu is one of the oldest, in every sense of the word, member in CMB. If you search through the archives, you will see he was once very active and popular in the forum. But all that’s changed with age. He is now a shadow lurking around the corners, a silhouette creeping upon the unexpected, the dark clouds on a rainy day and the shivers that run down your spine. But time is not completely to be blamed – the current Chinese music scene no longer sits well on his palate, sadly, and he has become very selective in his indulgence; and here’s his not so subtle promotion of Leehom!
With age also comes wisdom, or so the saying goes (funny they never say the same about maturity). But what’s wisdom without those unwise to impart? Being a member since this blog first started, he has witnessed many proposals made, interesting changes that had materialised and some great ideas that never saw the light of forum. He has met the many colourful characters, those that came and went, the helpful, the helpless, few that he has come to call friends, few buffoons that tasted his wrath, and not forgetting those that made him digged his own grave.
So what does the future hold for Delrondu in CMB, who’s a big fan of Leehom (there it is again!)? Only time will tell, or so the saying goes. But fate-less and faithless, misguidedly he walks down the path before him that is called life. And he’s sorry to steve for turning down the proposal, but life intervenes.

Silane is known to the chemists as SiH4 (check up ‘silane’ from wikipedia!). With just 1 Silicon and 4 Hydrogen atoms, this gas may just make you go crazily mad. This gas can be found anywhere there is rock in the air, with her (yes, its a ‘her’) being rocker-phillic, loving rock bands and their music.
Almost as equally mad as her aimless counterpart, chatting about anything lame is how she spends much of her time at work. When she is off work, silane tends to spend time watching the numerous dramas on her laptop, especially those revolving round Ming Dao and Yamapi. In addition, she likes groups with an ‘F’, namely F4, and Fahrenheit, and singers with ‘J’, for example, Jay Chou, and JJ Lin.
Other than being a potato couch, silane often goes shopping, watch theatrical shows, as well as the occasional tasting of alcoholic drinks, weird French habit. (silane and alcohol should not have been allowed to mix: there will be a huge explosive reaction!).
This french frog has been bestowed with powerful hind legs, and is setting foot all over the world, all on her own. In addition, her long and flexible tongue can speak French, English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese. It should be noted, that she is not cannabilistic, and that she dislikes eating her fellow frog legs.

Aimlesscomet aka 最废三个人的天使, human bonefish, 大小姐, 1k姫 or sometimes 周太太.
Her hobbies include stalking cuties (including Mr Singapore), growing ferns in Petri dishes, and having long and lame international msn conversations (if possible with frogs, modelling clay dogs and metrosexual supermen).
Special skills: flying in the sky, falling in love with everything purple, watching dramas non stop during holiday weeks, keeping company to bored French interns, falling asleep during class, studying Japanese, eating oysters omelettes because Show Luo cooked some ina drama…
Do not get between her numerous cuties and she, your life is at stake (FYI, here’s non exhaustive, international list of the concerned cuties: Wu Zun, Lee Jun Ki, Jay Chou, Oguri Shun… ) Yes, who would have thought that Singaporean women were that open minded about polyandry…
When it comes to music, she likes cute and Poppish songs like her Lao Gong’s ballads, Jinsha’s大小姐, J-Pop singers like Hikaru Utada.

TonYep, otherwise known as Tony, hails from Sydney Australia and is always ahead of the rest in terms of time thus makes him the loneliest member of them all. Tony is CMB’s most boring member and least interesting member. He brings dull life to CMB where his youth exhibits zilch …only kidding.
Tony has a good outlook on the Chinese Music Industry and is usually up-to-date to the music today. His knowledge of Chinese is limited (about 35% at best). He may help you with the odd translation for a phrase or even a song but generally he leaves it for the experts(Andrew!); he is an ABC like most in the forum so his interest lies in improving his knowledge of Chinese both reading and speaking wise.
Further to the fact, people wanting translations, after reading the rules, can probably blame him as he probably was the influence of implementing the 1 month policy; though on the other hand CMB can thank him as well ^^.

Tiffany (AKA Chopstix) is a communications major in the great state of Texas. Much like the pride she feels for Texas, she is also proud to be ABC. She speaks English, Spanish, Teochew and Mandarin. None of which very well. With the help of Asian dramas, CMB, and her love for Chinese music, she is slowly in the process of improving her Mandarin.
A professional procrastinator, she often spends her free time watching dramas, scanning the forums and surfing the net. Occasionally, she will part from her computer to do something productive. Tiffany has a tendency to remember trivial facts and useless information but very little of relevance to the important matters in life. A drama addict and youtube junkie, she travels nowhere without her Ipod and relies on the internet as a lifeline. Disorganized and a total mess, the only thing in order is her Itunes library.
She prefers traditional to simplified Chinese, but is nearly illiterate so it doesn’t really matter.

Genjo is a newbie at the beginning with maybe around 20-30 posts. Then with his new aims to reach 2k posts, he started his mission to spam in the forum. Sometimes he doesn’t even know what he is spamming. Well, besides spamming, he also found so many friends that share the same interests with him.
Oh yeah, he was mistaken as a girl in the beginning because of the avatar. Everybody only realize when he asks for some opinions about love in the forum. To avoid everybody mistake him one more time, he changed his avatar to cartoon.
You can found him spamming in the general section. You may ask for his msn address since nobody asks from him yet. LOL. He is a friendly person and likes to joke. He likes to play games and also likes everything about programming. Any question related to computer you can ask him without hesitate. He will try his best to answer you.
He took a lot of spaces in the forum because of the two big avatars. He is planning to get smaller avatar in the future. Genjo knowledge about Chinese isn’t wide. Out of 25k ++ Chinese words, he only know below 200 words. Too bad! He needs to improve in that area and he is trying his best – watching mtv? English is so so and Malay is better then English. He comes from Penang, Malaysia. Don’t forget to invite him to gathering in Penang. At last but not the least, Genjo is going to be a Spammer 天王. Please don’t ban :P

Sam, a.k.a. hobielover, is an accounting major from North Carolina. Though she isn’t Asian, she wants to become fluent in Mandarin, in addition to her native tongue of English and second language, Spanish. She prefers Simplified characters over Traditional and American English over British English. As for the Spanish, she doesn’t really care which country it’s from.
All of her friends believe that she is crazy. She, in fact, believes herself to be crazy. She is a huge fan of Jay Chou, and will listen to him, watch him in music videos and movies, and draw him in any given opportunity. She also posts translations to songs that she likes and answers a request every now and then. Even if her translation may be a bit off, you can be sure that she put her heart into it.
When not listening to music in any of three languages, she is taking care of her needy Himalayan Cat, Hobie, who constantly cries out for attention. She affectionately calls his crying “the Hobie alarm.” She also firmly believes that if she wears lime green pants, she must also wear a lime green shirt, lime green nail polish, lime green shoes, lime green socks, etc. Her family often finds all of this lime green difficult to look at, especially in her room with lime green and purple walls.

mukei; the miniature disaster, also responds to the name steph. She is currently wrecking havoc on the forums all the way from Melbourne, Australia. She is an ABC; while growing up, her parents forced her to learn chinese at saturday school. As the years went past, what first felt like a chore gradually developed into a passion for the chinese language and culture.
Other then being a self-confessed net junkie and procrastinator, she is also nocturnal, by habit, so you will probably see her online at strange hours of the day. You’ll most likely catch a glimpse of her at the General Discussion section and quite rarely helping out in the Lyrics Translation section, converting characters into pinyin.
Some random facts: As of 2008, she is doing her last year of uni. Steph is vertically challenged, and remains the same height from two years ago. Sad, eh? She reckons too. She has lost all faith in milk. Her hobbies include skiing, snowboarding, horse-riding and reading. She is easily distracted, forgetful and is always late to wherever. She likes Chinese Music Blog a LOT!

madeinchina, is a proud ABC along with fellow CMB members, TonYep and mukei and feels like she has been in Australia for far too long. Her real name and picture shall only be disclosed to those in the CMB Facebook group, because at times she does get paranoid if her details are posted here at random.
She loves Australia and does not mind the ‘lazy’ lifestyle that is often stereotyped to Aussies. However, she refuses to accept the dangerous culture and of binge-drinking, consistent house parties every weekend with 100s of party-goers and any form of illegal drug use. Other habits such as smoking, drinking and gambling, she is also strictly against, purely by choice.
Strangely enough, she loves going to clubs a lot, only to have had one experience thus far. She blames that on the Australian culture and her love for hip-hop, rap and dance music.
Like mukei, she was also ‘forced’ to go to Saturday Chinese classes, for a total of ten years skipping Year 3 and 6. In the end, she does not regret attending every boring class and at times, fun experiences in Chinese school as she did gain some Chinese knowledge and improve her Chinese vocabulary. Some past hobbies include; Chinese calligraphy and Chinese painting.
She is fluent in Australian English and I suppose ok in Mandarin.
She knows enough simplified Mandarin to hold an everyday conversation and knows how to write, read and listen to Mandarin at a basic to medium level. But she prefers to communicate in English.
Currently, she is half-way through studying her Food Science & Technology degree.
On the less serious note, madeinchina loves to know about anything you consider funny, the internet, forums, shopping, being punctual, making banners/signatures and studying. wink
madeinchina would be very happy to assist you with anything you ask, as long as she knows she can help and it is a reasonable request.
Feel free to PM her to make a banner for you as she would be glad to help, preferably by the end of March, 2008.
If you communicate with her online she seems to be far more extrovert and ‘talkative’ (home_girl, 2008) than introvert. Offline though, her introvert side is much more dominant, but you will probably never see that.
Her obsession with Korean music, particularly ‘Big Bang’, is rather confusing to those who don’t care much about or know any Korean music, since this is a Chinese music forum. However, if you are interested you are welcome to talk about it.
You will often see her active in the General Discussion section with genjo, sometimes Foolish_devil, and not as much in the other sections as her Chinese music knowledge is very limited and can only translate basic Mandarin.
The choice of her current username is purposely 100% misleading so you are wasting your time if you ask her anything directly related to China as she doesn’t know much.

chong, a chinked-out lover, know as happy2we, slowly evolve into The_Devils@#O$LittleaNgel and then end up as Foolish_Devil. A mislead soul who appeared out of no where, and leaves error along every of his foot step. Continues to seek the knowledge other possessed. but no worries, CMB members will guide this wondering soul.
