Anson Hu
Music Code (Yin Yue Mi Ma)
Like his albums before this, Anson 胡彥斌 (Hu Yan Bin)’s 音乐密码 (Yin Yue Mi Ma) comprises of rock numbers and romantic ballads.
皇帝 (Huang Di) is a catchy fast tempo. A good kick-off for the whole album. Once you familiarize with it, automatically you will find yourself singing along with the tune and fingers tapping.
Track two, 一年前 (Yi Nian Qian) can be heard frequently over the radio. The melody is somewhat the majority will accept. It is a slow ballad, undoubtedly. 三对三 (San Dui San) has quite an electronic beat in it.
你这么晚了还没睡 (Ni Zhe Me Wan Le Hai Mei Shui) is a slow track. The lyric tells about a girl who cares a lot for her appearance and a boy who had fallen head over heels for her.
The sweetest track goes to 梦中的婚礼 (Meng Zhong De Hun Li) which tells about a boy’s vow to his fiancée that he will always love her. Close your eyes and picture the scene…
The sixth until eighth track: 天若有情 (Tian Ruo You Qing), 蝴蝶 (Butterfly) and 愿望 (Yuan Wang) respectively are romantic ballads with an oriental feel. These tracks have the auxiliary of Chinese musical instruments. One of it is 愿望 (Yuan Wang) which is accompanied by the Chinese flute.
恶作剧男孩 (E Zuo Ju Nan Hai) is a medium beat number.
Last but not least, 葬英雄 (Zang Ying Xiong) had my attention caught at first listen. It has the melody that is most suitable for those legendary martial arts films. And indeed, after running the search engine, I found out that it is the theme song for a China television series – 一生为奴 (Yi Sheng Wei Nu). A show that revolves around the palace era.
Track Listings:
01 皇帝 (Huang Di / Emperor)
02 一年前 (Yi Nian Qian / A Year Ago)
03 三对三 (San Dui San / Three vs. Three)
04 你这么晚了还没睡 (Ni Zhe Me Wan Le Hai Mei Shui / It’s Late And You Are Not Asleep)

07 蝴蝶 (Hu Die / Butterfly)
08 愿望 (Yuan Wang / Wish)

I’ve been following this blog and you are doing an amazing job here. I love your reviews :)
On a side note, thanks also for the Hu Yan Bin review. I love his stuff and it’s usually quite good- his first album made everyone think he was a mini-Jay Chow.

nicely written review..! this album is wonderful, all the tracks in it r great, very catchy tunes! started listening to him after hearing “waiting for you” on a random website i clicked on. never heard of him before until i heard this song n started searching for it. he’s not too popular in Taiwan, dunno why. but I think he’s a talented singer, he writes and composes 80% of his music!
