After what seems to be a very long time, Round 2 is over!!!
Moving on to the Finals will be the following contestants:
Contestant 1
Contestant 2
Contestant 3
Contestant 4
Now for the rules of the Finals! Once again, I’ve decided to mix things up a bit (well…a lot). Our first round had our contestants sing whatever song they wanted. Our second round took us back to what LOUD and PROUD is all about, and now the Finals is going to be something that I have always wanted to do: Organizer’s Choice.
That’s right! For the finals, I will be assigning a song for each contestant to sing (all Mandarin) based on their vocal tone and quality. Telly and I have discussed, and I have picked the following songs for the following contestants:
Contestant 1
* When I heard your voice, I heard this song, and I feel that this song’s range will let you showcase what you are capable of.
Contestant 2
* Your tone reminded me of Zhang Yuan’s version of this song. Despite the fact that your tone isn’t too much like Zhang Yuan or Jimmy Lin, I feel that this song is right up your alley and am confident that you can pull off this song with ease and emotion.
Contestant 3
* Your deep voice and emotion is perfect for this love song. I hope to hear the same emotion and additional strength.
Contestant 4
* My favorite part for you was your higher notes at 2:30. In this song, I hope you can bring forward more of that tone and emotion.
Contestants will have 2 weeks to record. They will have to send their entries to contest@chinesemusicblog.com by Monday,June 7, 2010. If the contestants cannot find the instrumental backing, PM me, and I will provide one for you. Contestants are free to edit the song however they want to make it fit their comfort range.
Something else that wasn’t announced were the prizes!!
Since the number of finalists is so small this season, steve and I have decided to only award first and second place. First place will receive a CD from yesasia and CMB t-shirt of their choice, and 2nd place will get to choose one of the two!.
Congratulations to our finalists and good job to all of our participants!

After a wonderful first round, 8 contestants have risen to the top to proceed to round two!
Moving on to round to will be the following contestants:
Contestant 1
Contestant 3
Contestant 4
Contestant 7
Contestant 8
Contestant 10
Contestant 12
Contestant 13
Now for the rules of Round 2! I decided to mix things up a bit (well…a lot) this season, so I wanted each round to have a different theme. Our first round, the contestants sang whatever song their hearts desired as long as it was a Chinese dialect.
For our second round, I wanted to bring everyone back to what LOUD and PROUD is all about. Steve organized this competition so that people who DO NOT know the language can sing the songs that they love in a competition loudly and proudly. This is the main reason why we do not judge on pronunciation in this competition.
With this bit of history, I wanted to pull our contestants out of their comfort range, so here is the theme for round 2 will be Cantonese Songs. Now, I don’t know if we have any Canto speakers in our semifinalists, but if I were to choose another dialect, I fear the contestants wouldn’t have as many songs to choose from.
The contestants will have a little over 2 weeks to record and submit their entry to contest@chinesemusicblog.com by Saturday, April 17, 2010. Hopefully this will give the contestants enough time to find a song that they love and record it to their satisfaction, and also the public enough time to come back and vote in our little competition!
If any contestants have any problems finding a Cantonese song to sing, feel free to PM me, and I will try to help that person find a song that they are comfortable with.
Congratulations to our semifinalists and good job to all of our participants!

Happy New Year!!!
Well, to start off this new year of the tiger, you asked for it, and here it is!
LOUD and PROUD Season 7 is coming your way!
For now, the submission deadline is going to be Sunday, March 7, 2010 Sunday, March 14, 2010. That is 3 weeks from now. If by the time of the competition I have less than 10 contestants, I will extend the deadline…but I really hope that I don’t have to.
I will announce the official rules of this season’s competition when it is closer to the date. I’m throwing a little curve ball for our contestants that make it to the finals this season, so be prepared!!
Any questions that you may have, post them in this thread!
A couple things to remember…
1) All entries MUST be in CHINESE. It does not necessarily have to be Mandarin or Cantonese…any Chinese dialect will be accepted.
2) All entries must be submitted to contest@chinesemusicblog.com . Remember to include in the email your user name and the title of the song that you will be singing. This makes my life a lot easier!
3) All contestants must introduce themselves in the Contestants Thread. Not posting an introduction will be cause for disqualification.
4) Group submissions are welcome, but keep in mind that you will be judged as a group, not on how well a single individual in the group sings.
I think that’s all for now!
