CMB November 08 Website Updates

Contributors' Column

22. November 2008

I’ve done a few major and minor updates over the weekend on CMB. I thought I would go through it in case the regulars found themselves in an unfamiliar territory. ;)

Major Update #1: Discussion Unified
I should have done this long time ago. Before that, there are two (or more) discussion places going on in CMB. One in the forum, and one in the comment section of the blog.

In order to unified all the discussions, I have disabled the comment section of the blog, and redirect all the discussions back to the forum. So now, everyone needs to register and login in order to say something here.

Check out the sample below: http://chinesemusicblog.com/reviews/jay-chou-capricorn-mo-jie-zhuo (scroll to the bottom and check out the “Discuss” section).

Major Update #2: Forum Section Rearranged

I’ve rearranged the forum section abit, removed the unnecessary one, and rewrote all the forum section description. I have removed the Review Section, put the Albums/Singles Review Request in the Request Section and Members’ Music Review under Chinese Music Talk Forum.

Minor Update #1: Cleaner Background
It should be obvious by now. I’ve chose to use a white-grey background that feels better of the eyes.

Minor Update #2: Internet Explorer 6 Bugs Fixed
I only realized that 50% of our visitors are using IE6. After a few tweaks, CMB is IE6 compatible now.

Update on 28th Nov: Frontpage Interface Upgrade
More cleaner look. Include a subscription box, album review listing by album covers, forum discussions threads categorized by section (no longer listed in sidebar), news bite and contributor’s column have their own section in the frontpage too.

Update on 30th Nov: CMB Weekly Top 10 Music Chart
Wooo!
