Endy Chow
Light (Gwong)

Some critics regarded him as the second Nicholas Tse as both of their music is of the same genre and their style of singing too. After two EPs released in Hong Kong, he finally had the chance to own his first album – 光 (Gwong). He is Endy 周国贤 (Chow Kok Yin or Zhou Guo Xian).

This album consists of eight songs. All are mainly rock numbers. So to all the rock music lovers out there, this is a recommendable one to be added to your CD rack. First track, 光 (Gwong) is a two minutes intro song. His vocal seemed to sink into the heavy rock music.

Main hit, 汉城沉没了 (Hon Sing Cham Mut Liu) is slow in tempo but is supported with a rock background. This track displayed his best vocal ability.

Sixth track, 食懵你 (Sik Mung Nei) reflects on the lives of the working-class people in today’s society.

东区酒廊 (Dong Au Jau Long) and 不一样的天空 (But Yat Yeung Dik Tin Hung) are different from the rest of the tracks because both are slow songs with a simple music arrangement. Both tracks are diversions to the ears after a few pulsating songs.

As a composer-lyricist-producer for this entire album, Endy had definitely managed to build his name in the entertainment world. Furthermore, his genre of music derives away from the usual HK pop culture scene. This can provide a fresher feel to the listeners .

In conclusion, I think he still need to improve on his vocals. Afterall, what is a good piece of music when there is no good vocal to back it up?

  1. Out of all the songs, I have only heard “Hon Sing Cham Mut Liu”. I feel that he has pitching problem when singing live.

I’m looking forward to check out other songs in the album. Thanks for the review!

  2. I think Endy can sing ! And he sings pretty good ^^
    ‘J’ Support Endy 4evEr ^^

  3. yes i agree that he CAN sing.
what i’m trying to say is his vocal is not strong enough to bring out the rock music.

  4. Aly

    As a composer/writer I think he’s up to par with Nic… but vocally… he’s a bit lacking… xD

  5. fujlc

this is actually his 2nd album. “Greenhouse Balloon” was his first.

should check out his Ep Debut album and especially his first full album Greenhouse Balloon which has the song 告一段落. The TVB version MV on youtube was really sad but very good.
