Kissing The Future of Love (Qing Qing)
After the more mature sounding “Silk Road of Love”, the “Queen of Ballads” comes out with another love-themed album. “Kissing The Future of Love”.
“Nuan Nuan” is most suitable for new couples that are deeply in love. The song is a bit too sugary for me, but I believe a lot of fans will love it. Compared to it, I prefer “Ke Le Jie Zhi” and “Xiao Shou La Da Shou”, also both sweet love ballad. “Ke Le Jie Zhi” has the feel of happiness, and Fish’s vocal is more natural in it. “Xiao Shou La Da Shou” is a Japanese cover. It sounds familiar to me initially, then I realized Zen Bao Yi did that song before too. Nevertheless I still love the song a lot.
“Qin Qin”, the title song that describes the feeling of first love, is another song that I adore. It’s not a song of total different style, but it’s quite different from the ballads that Fish sang in the past. It’s more similar to her early songs “Yi Ye Zhang Da” or “Di San Zhe”, with a much better vocal. Her good control of vocal can easily be heard when she changes from one range to another.
Both “Xing Fu Yang Guo Zi Dian” and “Fei Yu” have a special efect applied on her vocal to make it lighter. I don’t like the effect as it makes her voice sound fake to me. I’d rather have her original clean vocal. If it were’t for the effect, I might like the melody of the two songs. Unfortunately, I try to avoid these two songs.
“Shi Yi” is composed by Jay Chou, a rather normal ballad. The male background vocal adds a bit of specialty to the melody of “Bu Shi Wo Bu Ming Bai”. “Xiao Xin Yan”, the duet between Fish Leong and Chen Qi Zhen is definitely Qi Zhen style. Fair enough, it’s composed by her and thanks to that, we hear a different Fish Leong in this song.
There are also two ‘first time’s for Fish in this album - her first recorded Hokkien song and her first composition, “Xu”. The album starts with an acoustic song and ends with another acoustic tune. This album is generally lighter, sweeter and happier that her last one.

Nice review!
Just got this album last month, my favorite tracks are 2, 3, 5, 7. I was hoping her single “Lian Ze Duo Shi Huan” would be on it, but too bad it wasn’t included. This album is pretty good, but wasn’t as great as I expected it to be, I think her previous album “Silk Road” was better.

I’m getting kind of tired of her voice. She can actually sing live unlike some other female “singers” out there, but something about her voice just puts me off, especially with this album. I don’t know why it seems more prominent with this album than with older songs.

In fact I’m getting a bit bored of her songs as well. In all aspects, the album is above average but there isn’t anything really outstanding, something special. As for her vocal, I don’t like it only in some of her songs.

From this album I’ve only heard “Qin Qin” I really like it! Its one of my faves! :D … I hope the rest of the album to be as good as this song! :)

hey! I want to thank you personally for making me more aware of Fish Leong’s music! I had been getting annoyed by all the “bubblegum” cpop/hkpop artists that I stopped listening for awhile. Thanks for informing me there’s still some genuine good singers!
