There's a new female singer that came out named Cindy Yen. The first single to her new album is a duet with Jay Chou, which he did not compose, but she did. She also composed all 10 songs on her debut album, so it's great to another female singer-songwriter out there.

From the stuff that I heard, her debut album sounds great.

I didn't really like the duet (partly because of Jay's vocals, even though I'm a fan), but I did listen to the other songs and I think some of them were better. She's signed on with JVR. Vincent wrote the lyrics for the duet, I'm not sure about the other songs. While her voice isn't amazing, it's still good.
I thought about getting her album on my last YesAsia order, but I went for Gary's (ex-NQMM) album instead. I very well might buy her album next order, though. (I can't afford too much from Taiwan in one order and LeeHom's concert set wasn't cheap!)

she has a good voice, but her songs don't stand out to me...

Blah, that's my first reaction (and no, not because Jay's involved). It's just pretty dime-a-dozen stuff. Maybe the rest of the album shows more promise. Can she actually write any music?
Edit: Sorry, I missed the opening line that said she composed her album. That's good news; putting aside this song (Jay sounds weird, the whole melody is generic and boring, and I'm completely over duets), I'll try to give the rest of it a fair chance. There are too few female singer-songwriters in the Mandopop world.

Her album is OK - nothing special I liked about 3 songs including this one with Jay.

I love Hua Sha and think that Jay's voice is perfectly suited to the song. Cindy is certainly very talented playing lots of instruments well and she has a nice singing voice, but I don't personally like any of her other tracks.
