Janice Wei Lan
Do U Know

After a major success in year 2005, this Filipino-Korean lass is back with her sophomore album. Exactly like her previous album, Janice’s Do U Know is dominated mainly by ballads and includes an English song.

The album kicks off with a soothing piano piece followed by 离家出走 (Lei Ga Chut Jau) which is theme song for the movie 缘邀之音 (A Loving Melody) produced by Leon Lai starring Chapman To, Jill and herself.

Track 2, 爱你还爱你 (Ngoi Nei Waan Ngoi Nei) is also another ballad. Once again, Janice did not fail to blow me away with her beautiful clear voice.

Track 5, 越帮越忙 (Yut Bong Yut Mong) is the one and only fast tempo song. Like I’ve said in my earlier review of My Love, I do not really prefer her singing fast songs.

You will find the music in 爱才 (Ngoi Choi) a little familiar that is because you have heard the piano rendition of it in ‘Interlude’. Yet another song that showcases her strong voice!

Track 7, 8, 10, 11 are all equally good ballads while Track 12 is just the piano version of Track 2.

Track 9, Do You Know Where You Are Going To is the only English song. It has a music box opening and definitely sounded like a sweet lullaby. Originally sung by Diana Ross, it is the theme to the 1975 film, Mahogany.

‘The Christmas Tunes’ consists of six popular Christmas songs in a string namely: Silent Night, We Wish You A Merry Christmas, White Christmas, Jingle Bells, Jingle Bell Rock and Last Christmas.

p/s: She looks so much better on this cover compared to her previous one. :P

  1. Hi Amber,

    Thanks for reviewing!

I’m listening to this album everyday now. :)

Absolutely love her high-pitched and strong vocal.

    My favorites are track 3, 4, 5, 6 and 9.

  2. I already had this album, but I do agree that this song (and the cover) is really nice.

i actually do like her fast paced song in this album. But overall, this album is really strong

  3. janice looks un-asian on that cover pic…. i really liked her previous album and prefer her style to her sisters.

nice review. i must get my hands on this!

  4. Lick

I really like Janices voice. Ever since I heard ‘In Love Again’ (from her Day & Night album) I was sold. She really does have a clear voice. Thanks for this review, Amber!
