Joey Yung released her long anticipated 2007 Mandarin Album – “Little” (xiao xiao) just after she completed her hip hop dance course from USA. Before the release of this album, the first hit in the album “Little” (xiao xiao) is already aired in radio stations. This song produced by the “Taiwan Golden Partner” – tune by Jay Chou and lyrics by Fang Wen Shan is currently topping the Chinese pop chart. However, unlike the usual Jay Chou song, this song has got a melancholic tune.

It was the first song in this album “Matsumura” (shu feng die) which caught my attention. This song has got a slow tempo and a lovely tune. Joey definitely expresses herself well in this song with her powerful vocal. She has totally no problem to cope with the high pitching in this song. You will still be humming the tune over and over after listening to it. Another song which has almost the same genre with “Matsumura” is “Beside you” (zai ni de zuo you). This song however appears to be more touching than any other songs in the album. The lyrics definitely play some part for that!

Another song which is recommended would be “Never mind” (mei guan xi). It has a very relaxed yet lively tempo. You will find it a very pleasant song. If you feel depressed, this song will definitely brighten up your day. The chorus “Baby, just take it easy, just take it easy……” kept playing in my mind. This is also one of my favorite songs in this album.

“Blossoming Moment” (hua kai de shi ke) and “Fable” (tian fang ye tan) both are fast tempo song - which I believe inserted in this album to give a more diversify genre. However I do not fancy Joey singing fast tempo song. The last song in the album “Jie Yu Hua” which is also the theme song of a Korean Drama – “Hwang Jin Yi” starred by Song Hye Kyo. I believe this song would be a hit in Hong Kong when the series reached its climax.

Overall, I would say that this album is a good one. I can see Joey putting in considerably effort in producing a quality album. It is unlike her previous Cantonese Albums which is produced in a short period of time and so “commercial” that you find only one or two good songs in the album. You will find most of the songs in this album worth listening to and this album is definitely worth to be in your CD rack. What are you waiting for?
