Tokyo Juliet [東方茱麗葉] is another Taiwanese Idol drama based on a manga adaptation. I find it hilarious that they simply replaced “Tokyo” [東京, manga title] with “Eastern” [東方] but kept the English title as “Tokyo Juliet”. . Don’t you just love those money sucking, lazy arse producers? Anyway, I found the show exciting at first and then… it went downhill after episode 11. I didn’t even bother finishing it. It’s boring and certain things are over exaggerated. Of course, as always, all the people out there think I’m nuts and they are going to throw sandals at me; to each, their own. I did enjoy watching 唐治平 (Tang Zhi Ping) as 艾利歐(Ai Li Ou) . I thought he’s so adorable! Anyway, enough rambling about the show, let’s talk about its soundtrack.

Notable Tracks:
[逆風] is definitely a great opening song and perfect for the spirit of the show. I like the violin part of the intro. [Garden Sister] sounds a bit like Cherry Boom, which is fine. Hopefully, we get to hear more of them in the future. On the contrary, the ending theme, [非你莫屬] is nothing but an ear worm. Other than that, it’s an absolutely boring piece. Having Ariel Lin deliver it with such flat vocal doesn’t help either. She definitely did better singing [孤單北半球: Gu Dan Bei Ban Qiu/Love Contract OST]. My absolute favorite piece from this album is [放不下] by Kaira Gong. I am not too fond of the lyric, but I find the composition and arrangement of the song pretty good! Plus, her soothing vocal overrides its weak lyric. Thus, the verdict is: I would still highly recommend this song. I don’t dig Z-Chen’s [愛情樹] but totally love [痊癒]. Though it is borderline sappy, it still gives hints of hope that helps elevate the song from sinking into the ocean of desperation. Here comes the part that everybody’s been waiting for: I absolutely despise all Fahrenheit’s songs in this album. I think they are outrageously unacceptable, especially [佔有]. My cat almost hung himself when he heard the first 5 seconds of this song. It’s just that bad. How could you release a song in which the singer(s) constantly miss the notes? Unbelievable! Well, after the painful Fahrenheit’s pieces, this album closes with decent scores. I do like [雲裳風暴] and [旗袍]; they both are different and definitely great for runaway shows.

In a nutshell: FOFO (For OST Freaks Only). This album doesn’t have enough to offer and I don’t have the heart to make the public buy it. Save your money to buy Silence [深情密碼: Shen Qing Mi Ma] OST instead.
