Justin Lo: JTV

JTV is an cantonese album, released at November last year, and is only Justin’s 3rd studio album. It contains fourteen tracks, including an intro & outro. There are 2 similar tracks on the album: track 12 “Stuck On U” is the English version of track 2 “Red Carpet”(Hong Dei Tham); and track 13 “Pedestrian A” (Lu Ren Jia) is the mandarin version of track 5 “Slow”(Chi Dun).

One particular track really touches me: track 4 “Men KTV”(Nam Yan KTV). The song talks about a guy with a broken heart, trying to sing to heal himself, with songs like Jacky Cheung’s “Kiss GoodBye”(Wen Bie) and Eason Chan’s “BackPack”(Bei Bao). Everytime I’m hearing “Men KTV”, I couldn’t resit myself but immerse into the sorrow character of the song, and sing (or scream, sometimes). I simply love this song and without no doubt, “Men KTV” has a place in my ‘all time favourite’ list.

However, unlike Justin’s two previous album, I thought JTV was a bit unbalance, probably overshadow by “Men KTV”. There are a few tracks worth mentioning: track 5 “Slow”(Chi Dun), track 9 “Difficult Stage”(Nam Guan) and track 10 “Cartoon Song” (Ka Tong Koh). The rest are unfortunately, quite forgettable.

JTV is still an album you shouldn’t miss. If you listen to it more than few times, you could find its extraordinary within the ordinary (a bit ‘abstract to explain, though). Even you are not a Justin’s fans, it is always a good time to catch up (and hey, we’ve reviewed every single Justin’s album so far here).
