Ronald Cheng
Before After
Finally a Ronald Cheng’s album in 2 years. This funny guy, has been starring so many comedy movies in recent years, so many people seemed to forget that he supposed to be singing us those sad, love song. Anyway, after all these years, is this album “Before After” worth our wait?
There are so many songs in “Before After” were publicly released and play before the album came out. And it also features some hot “K” (Karaoke) songs such as “Just want you to love me” (Zi Yao Ni Ai Wo) and “Love is the biggest right” (Ai Shi Zui Da Quan Li). Not forgetting the theme song of Ronald’s trademark movie - Dragon Reloaded , “Rascal” (Wu lai). This is probably the hottest song right now and you can listen to it from the radio, the mall, mamak stall, in the toilet, everywhere! To make it “worse”, this song was repeated again in the last track of the album under the “Righteous version” (Li Zhi Qi Zhuang Ban). Basically, it features some of Ronald’s best friends, each grabbing a part in this song. Well, it’s really quite a mess :P
A few songs I particularly like are “Close Eyes Enthrall” (Bi Mu Ru Shen), which is composed by Ken Hirai; “I really cried before” (Wo Zhen De Ku Guo), shows the sensitive side of man; and of course the cheerful song which ironically titled “Sad little Parrot” (Shang Xin de Xiao Ying Wu).
Back to our first question, I would say “Before After” did everything right and, well worth the wait. It is good, but I would say it lacks of the “WOW” factor. Some might say it is too commercialized. Perhaps we are so familiar with most of the songs and this album gives us no surprises.
