After a long long time of voting, and thanks to critiques from our various members and everyone for voting, we now have a Final 8!

I know this sounds like a line, but I mean it. I truly believe that all the contestants put up a very good effort, and it definitely showed.

The Top 3 Judges’ Picks were contestants 26, 15, and 10.
The Top 3 from Popular Votes were contestants 26, 17, and 5.

The Final 8 was calculated based on the 9 Panel Judges’ lists (10 points for 1st place, 7 points for 2nd place, and 5 points for 3rd place), and 315 Popular Votes (1 point per vote).

Without further adieu, I give you your Final 8 and their number of points.

As for the Final 8, you have 1 month to submit a recording to us at contest@chinesemusicblog.com. The criteria is the same as it was before. The deadline to submit your entry will be January 5, 2009. Update:
After reviewing the Final 8, we realized that there were 2 that have not submitted an introduction, so I am bumping these two off the list of our Final 8 (which is unfortunate since they were both very wonderful). Because of this, I will be moving the next two up. Fortunately, there was a tie score between our 8th placing, so I’m going to have 3 people bringing us to a Final 9!

The additions will be contestant #1, contestant #23, and contestant #25.

This will bring our Final 9 to the following:

1) Contestant #26 - 114 points
2) Contestant #15 - 52 points
3) Contestant #17 - 48 points
4) Contestant #5 - 48 points
5) Contestant #10 - 45 points

With this turn of events, your vote for contestant #7 as your number 1 would have put them at #8.

Learning from this, everyone, PLEASE VOTE! We will be in the final round, so there is no more “This person is so great, someone else will vote for them to pass on to the next round.” There is no next round…this is it…win or lose.
