I only watched the first episode of this series, but unfortunately, I have to tell myself that I cannot let tv series ruin my life. So, I decided not to follow the show. However, I didn’t say anything about not buying the soundtrack album. The fact that this show puts Alex To, Ambrose Hsu, and Lara together is enough reason for me to shed some dollars on the album. Now, do I have buyer’s remorse? Well, sorta kinda. In general, I do find this as pretty decent, but I do find most of the songs sound a bit outdated. Not that it’s bad, but if I were the producer, I would probably choose a different route.

Notable Tracks:
My absolute favorite and so happen the most “modern” sounding song in this album is Lara’s [吻我好嗎]. It’s mellow and Lara’s cute voice makes this song sounds really sweet. I’ll definitely put this one in my 2007 Valentine’s Day CD mix. Ambrose pretty much dominates this album, which I find quite unfortunate because all his songs are the ones that sound outdated. His [想戀愛] sounds like an old school Chinese rock. Its composition reminds me of Love Storm’s [夏天]. It’s alright, pretty catchy and cute. His other song, [無人值守], reminds me a lot of Wang Jie [王傑]’s old songs. Not that this is a bad piece, it just too outdated for my taste. I do believe that Ambrose has potentials, thus I really hope in the future, they’ll try to give him more of current style songs. Alex and Lara’s duet piece [未完待續] has Alex’s 1990’s R&B style all over it. It’s decent and their vocals blend well. I won’t be surprised if this becomes a karaoke favorite one day. I find Alex’s [迷途] quite unique. It sounds more like a western pop rock and I kinda like it. As for the scores, there are only three of them and all are pretty good. My personal favorite is [愛正要起飛] for its opening orchestral arrangement.

In a nutshell: Not my cup of tea. I won’t consider it as a 100% FOFO album though. I just think it has limited range of audience, meaning it’s probably reserved for Ambrose, Alex, and Lara’s fans only. I wonder if this is why the price is higher than regular OST? Hmm…
