Zhou Bi Chang, or otherwise known as BiBi, came into the music scene in 2005 as part of the Super Girl Competition. She was runner up to Chris Lee (Lee Yu Chun) but in my view Zhou Bi Chang is the stronger artist.

My first taste of Zhou Bi Chang came in her first EP with ‘Zhi Sheng Yi Ge Wo (Only me Remaining)’. The song was good and came to my attention; I wanted more. She released her first album in 2006 which I didn’t come too but by 30 December 2007 she released her second and third album simultaneously…NOW and WOW. The two albums are excellent as individuals or as a compliment to one another;

In NOW, Track 1 is a remake of the classic folklore song “Liu Yang He (Liu Yang River)” sang by Li GuYi; “Liu Yang He 2008” is now an R&B arrangement in which even Li GuYi sings a few lines. At first, Li GuYi expresses her vocals which surprised me (don’t be put off); I had even thought that it was Zhou Bi Chang herself. The song eases into a calm though catchy beat where BiBi’s R&B prowess comes to perfect what is, one of my favourite tracks of the album.

Track 2 “Yi Zhou Nian” (First Anniversary) is my favourite track out of both albums. In this track, we see Zhou Bi Chang expressing her vocals to her full potential and adding to the simplicity of lyrics, the song is a constant track on my play-list. Track 3 “Ah Feng” and Track 4 “Xiang Xin Ai Qin” are nice tracks for relaxation. The following tracks each contain their own attributes to what BiBi does best, making note of Track 5 “Tian Shi Zhi Chen” (City of Angels) about her personal experience to the US and her longing for home. I didn’t particularly enjoy Track 8 where she shares a duet with Nicky Lee in “Ni Hao Ma”(How are you?) but it doesn’t take away anything from the produced album. It ends with “Wei Lai Jiu Shi Xian Zai” (The Future is Now). I like the melody and tempo of the song which compliments the lyrics well.

As a round up, Zhou Bi Chang exploits her voice well and has resulted in songs showing off her vocal capabilities and her style of music.This album is for those who enjoy relaxing and of course BiBi fans. I rate this album 7.5/10
